On 5 January 1836, James WALKER, Sr. and his wife, Catherine MILLER deeded their land to their children before James' death. [Washington County, Texas Deed Abstracts 1834 - 1841, Republic of Texas and State of Coahuila and Texas, abstracted by Joyce Murray, pages 29. 30, 31 and 32 show Deeds of Gift dated 5 January 1836]
