Flag of Virginia
William was a Virginia colonist.

William WALKER - b. about 1644, New Kent Co., VA; d. by Aug. 1723, New Kent Co., VA.[1] Purported to be the son of Alexander WALKER and Frances. However, no substantive evidence has been seen of any relationship between William WALKER and Alexander WALKER. William was in St. Peter's Parish, New Kent Co., VA by 1698, appearing as a tithable that year, and as a land holder in 1704. He owned 650 acres of land in New Kent Co., and500 acres in Henrico Co. His will was proved at the August 1723 Court, Henrico Co VA with William WOODSON and John WALKER, securities for Elizabeth WALKER, executrix. Married about 1680.

William is said to have been born c. 1640 at St Peter's Parish, York County (later New Kent), Virginia.[2] New Kent was not formed from York County until 1654.[3]

He is often said to have been the son of Alexander Walker and Frances (Unknown) Walker.[2] Sometimes Alexander is said to have married a Frances/Francis or Frances Elizabeth or Elizabeth Warren, but this is almost certainly confusion with the wife of son William (here profiled) and in error.

Many online "trees" and websites claim to know the ancestry of William, but primary evidence is lacking. For instance, the ebook by Terry Drake, The History of the Drake Family and the Times They Lived ..., claims to trace several families' ancestry to English royalty and uses some undocumented sources, such as Wikipedia, ancestry.com and WikiTree![4][5]

In her will, witnessed by Henry STOKES, and John and Mary WATSON, Elizabeth names eight children. Though her surname has not been documented, Elizabeth is believed to be the daughter of Francis WARREN and Elizabeth. Hi US Southern Colonies Project! This profile had a project box without the project account. I've fixed that. Looking at the comments, should it also be PPP?

Thanks, Liz

Hello to all PM's,

I noticed that there is a project template for the US Southern Colonies Project but that they aren't a PM on the profile with you. You will need to contact Mary or David if you want the project to help protect this profile. Or ~ you can change that template to a sticker.

Let me know if you have questions or need help!

Liz - My own records do not include William Walker's mother nor the parents of Elizabeth Warren. I think we're dealing with a merge gone bad. William and Elizabeth had a son named William and I think someone patched the two Williams together. Someone with data further back should be the one to do the repair. Terry Drake is right that we should not proceed with a merge until it is unsnarled.

Hi! Terry Drake rejected the merge proposed for Walker-14691 and Walker-2339. I asked him to re-look ... Seems to me they are the same, but this profile is attached as son to a profile that should be merged away into the wife's profile (if I'm reading the text/comments correctly).

Could y'all take a look too?

Thanks!
