Biography

Lifetime Pittsylvania, Virginia native Henry G. Walker was born about 1804.

Henry married Michele Fletcher on October 3, 1825 in Halifax, Virginia. Michele's father noted as Thomas Fletcher, possibly the Thomas who married Keziah Farris on June 18, 1790 in Pittsylvania.

The census records for Pittsylvania County, Virginia for 1850,1860 show that Henry and Michele Walker had at least seven children:

Son Wyatt Walker, was living next door in 1860. He had married Sarah C. Green in Pittsylvania in 1852.

At least five of Henry's sons would fight for the CSA. Nathaniel, Wyatt and Joel in the 53rd Infantry. Sons Daniel Thomas and William W. Walker were with the 2nd Virginia Cavalry, Company I.

William W. Walker would be KIA in Hanovertown on May 27, 1864, a couple weeks after General J.E.B. Stuart died, in the vicinity.

Daniel would pass away on January 22, 1867.

• There was a Arnold Walker that married Elander Gravley Dec. 1814 in Henry County. At that time Henry County was part of Pittsylvania County. ^[1]
• There may be a connection to this family: John Kirby, Jr. (John), b. 1726, d. (will dated Mar. 11, 1795, pro. Sept. 1, 1795, of record in Pitts. Co., Va.; m. Sarah(???), cir. 1752, Pitts. Co., Va. She d. subsequent to 1795. John Kirby, Jr., served as a private in the Virginia Militia, in the Revolutionary War. (John Kirby (qm.) H. D., Oct., 1793, 36). ^[2] His will mentions wife and the following children:
