James (25) married Mary Tinto Early (17) (born on 2 Aug 1860 in Dalserf, Lanarkshire, Scotland; daughter of Alexander Early and Mary Potter) on 8 Dec 1877 in Jewell County, Kansas, USA. [2] Their children were:
James died on 22 Dec 1930 in Lake Preston, Kingsbury county, South Dakota, United States, aged about 78. He was buried in Lake Preston Cemetery, Lake Preston, Kingsbury County, South Dakota. [1]
The 1880 census has James and Mary at his father's place in Grant, Jewell County, Kansas, with the 1 year old Sarah. This entry was right next door to that of Mary's Father Alexander Early. In 1900 Jas K and Mary are still in Grant, Jewell County, Kansas, 4 children are with them they have been married 22 years and have 5 children all living. they are near her sister Elizabeth and H V Basart 1910 finds the family in Lake Preston Ward 3, Kingsbury, South Dakota, with them are Ray, Elva and Iva, and Sarah L Nickerson and her two children Ren E and Earle L, James is a grocery store clerk. Ralph E Walker is married and living near by at Lake Preston Ward 1, Kingsbury, South Dakota
