Biography

Mary is the daughter of Elias and Anna M. (Amos) Walker. She married James C. Wright, a Methodist minister. Mary and James are buried in Greenwood Cemetery, Knoxville, Knox, Tennessee. ^[1]

Mary R. J. Walker and J. C. Wright were married on 14 February 1878 in McMinn county, Tennessee. ^[2]

In 1900, they lived with her mother and sister.

In 1900, the Walker family lived in Athenstown, McMinn, Tennessee. The household included Mahalia Walker, 65, born in February 1835 in Tennessee, a widow, who had had five children, three of whom were living; her daughter, Julia B. Walker, 30, b. April 1870 in TN, a music teacher; her daughter Ruhannah (Walker) Wright, 40, b. Oct 1860, who had had one child, now deceased; and her husband of 22 years, James C. Wright, 49, b. Dec 1851, a preacher. All members of the household were born in TN, as were all their parents. All could read and write. ^[3]
