Military Service
On August 28, 1861, John C Walker was commissioned as Colonel in command of the 35th Indiana Infantry. [3] Disagreements with his superiors and with Governor Morton led to his removal and for the issuance of a warrant for his arrest in 1862.[4]
Postbellum
President Johnson issued Walker a pardon and amnesty. Walker moved to England where he studied medicine. [4]
While in London, England, John C. Walker married Laura Marion Seymour. (Born Oct 1849, England) on 7 Sep 1873 in Shoreditch St Leonard, Middlesex, England, United Kingdom[5]
In 1873, Walker and his family, returned to the United States. Walker finished his medical studies and practiced medicine in Shelbyville, Indiana. In 1879, Walker was appointed assistant physician at the Hospital for the Insane in Indianapolis. [1]
John Crawford Walker, Jr. died April 14, 1883, at Indianapolis, Marion Co., Indiana, USA. He was buried at Crown Hill Cemetery, Indianapolis, Indiana. [1]
