In the name of God, Amen, I, George Walker, Senior, of the County of Botetourt and State of Virginia, do, this the 3 day of 3 [March] in the year of our Lord 1832 make and declare this my last Will and Testament in manner and form following hereby revoking all others by me made:

First, I resign my Soul into the hands of Almighty God, hoping and believing in a remission of my sins by the merits and mediation of Jesus Christ, and my body I commit to the earth to be decently buried, along side of my once beloved but now departed wife

and all my worldly goods and Estate I bequeath and devise as follows: as soon as practicable after my decease and burial I order that a schedule of all my personal Goods and property of every description be carefully and correctly taken, the Same consisting of Household and Kitchen Furniture, Beds, and Bed Furniture, Clock, and Watch, also Horses and Colt, Horn cattle, Hogs, Sheep, etc., and every other description of live stock found in my possession, also stills and still tubs, farming utensils, waggons and harness, saddles and bridles, and all loose plunder of every description not herein designated; Also all Grain in Cribs and Granary, consisting of Corn, Rye, Oats, Buckwheat, and Wheat, together with all Grain Shocks and Sheefs in Barn, or otherwise Hay and Haystacks all of which I desire to have sold at public auction to the highest bidder at a credit of twelve months from the time of sale, all purchasers giving their bond, with approved security for the true payment and discharge of said Bonds; and

I also further order as soon as the expiration of said given time for the payment of said bonds shall arrive the moneys therefrom depending shall be immediately collected on notice of those becoming due in failure whereof all unpaid Bonds shall be placed into the possession of some person learned in the Law to enforce and recover said payment agreeably thereto also all other Bonds, obligations, open accounts found in my Boos, or otherwise found in my drawers or limits, that a true account shall be taken and due notice shall be given to all indebted and payment requested and if not then settled the same shall be deposited and dealt with as before mentioned;

I also desire that whatever ready money, Silver, Gold, Bank Notes, or otherwise, I may leave or die in possession of that a just and true account may be taken of the same, the true amount to be made known to and equally divided amongst my dearly beloved children, hereinafter mentioned, and to be paid over to them soon as circumstances and convenience will admit.

With respect to my Black People, I desire that Hannah and Frank shall be sold to the highest bidder in Common with the rest of my Property and to be disposed of in the same like manner. It is also my particular request that all the increase of the aforesaid Hannah, which she now has or may have during my life, may be kept in the family, the same to be appraised at a just value and whichsoever of my children may take them they shall receive them as in part partition of this my last bequest.

With respect to all my Land Estate, I request that it may be divided into equal lots agreeable to value, taking all improvements into consideration, and the same to be divided amongst my twelve beloved Children: namely, John Walker, George Walker, Jacob Walker, Betsy Reynolds, Frederick Walker, Caty Sarver, Daniel Walker, Mary Kybert, Peter Walker, Margaret McClanahan, Sally Leffel, Susan L. Sharver, to be disposed of at their discretion, either by sale or to hold for themselves respectively.

As regards my daughter, Mary Kybert, it is my request, as well as the desire of herself, that whatever may befall to her respective portion shall be for the benefit of her children after her death, and that the same shall be put to some use in a legal manner that it may draw interest. The interest thereof arising shall be at her disposal for her own and the better support of her children and should she, my daughter, again take up with him the said Kybert, her husband, she shall not at no time or in any shape whatever have or interfere with said principal or interest and

I do hereby appoint my three sons John Walker, George Walker, and Daniel Walter to be my Executors of this my last bequest and the aforesaid portion of my daughter Mary to be deposited into one of their hands for the better of the same for her and her interest in case of her death or the death of her issue, whatever may be the effects left by her shall fall to him whom she shall choose from friends.

And lastly my express will is and meaning, and I do hereby order and ordain that if any dispute difference question or controversy shall be moved arise or happen concerning any gift, bequest, matter, or thing in this my Will, given or bequeathed, expressed or contained that then no suit or suits in Law or equity or otherwise shall be brought commenced or prosecuted for and concerning the same but the same shall be referred wholly to the aword order or determination of two or more respectable and judicious friends chosen by my Executors and what they shall order direct, order or determine therein shall be binding and conclusive to all and every person or persons concerned. HISTORY & BIOGRAPHY.

from Almira Ann "Myra" (Walker) Gerichs, great-granddaughter of George Walker: George Walker, born in Germany and came to America, settled first in Pennsylvania, supposedly in town of Bedford. From there to Botetourt County, Virginia. (now Craig). In Pennsylvania he married Margaret (Peggy) Hiefner, born in Germany. To this union was born twelve children, six sons and six daughters. Sons: John, George, Jacob, Frederick, Daniel, Peter; daughters: Elizabeth, Catherine, Mary, Margaret, Sarah, & Susanna. Susan married a Shawver, Margaret (Peggy) married a McClanahan, Elizabeth (Betsy) married a Reynolds, Mary (Polly) m. Keibert, Sarah (Sally) m. Leffel, Katie m. Sarver. Our Great Grandfather was an officer in either Revolutionary War or the War of 1812. Aunt Emily was almost positive it was the Revolution. She remembered his visiting his son George's home (her Father's home) and would come dressed in his uniform. He would take her on his horse for rides when quite old. He was one day alone in the house and must have stooped over to light his pipe with a coal from the fire in the fireplace, lost his balance and fell. He was burned to death and was dead when found. Aunt Em remembered the large funeral he had and said he was buried with Military Honors.

Excerpts from a letter dated 9 July 1932 from Florence (Fee) Cruickshank to her cousin Elizabeth (Calhoun) Newcomer: George Walker and Margaret Heifner were supposed to have married in Bedford Co., Pennsylvania, where they resided until 1798. Then they moved to Botetourt Co., Virginia, and died there. All of the children except the youngest three were born in Pennsylvania. Aunt Mary [(Walker) Baltzell] could give me no information whatever about her parents. I wrote her for date of marriage, etc. She has had so many cares and afflictions so I marvel that she has any mind at all. I should have asked my mother more questions. Her mind was very alert until her death. I found out of her the last time she visited me that the folks lived in Botetourt Co., Virginia. My great-grandfather George Walker was a distiller and slave holder as his will suggests, & at the time of his death he owned twelve slaves. His will mentions Hannah and Frank, husband & wife, and their issue. Undoubtedly Hannah was the mother of 10 children born before my great-grandfather's death, and she was a comparatively young woman at that time. She was always cross, and he willed that she and Frank should be sold. He was found dead in the fireplace face down, and members of the family thought Hannah shoved him into the fireplace. According to my mother, she is my authority, he was well up in his eighties and could have died of heart failure. His wife died eight years before he died, and undoubtedly the will was made immediately after her death. He died just prior to the January term of court 1840. The will was dated 1832. I was only 14 when I left Missouri, and practically spent no time at home after I was 19. My older sisters remained at home so many years and could have gotten so much from mother, had they been interested in family history.

George Walker 1753 - December 29, 1839 ~*~ Married Margaret Heefner in 1780, Hagerstown, Bedford County, Maryland.

Emigrated to the Colonies from Germany 1765-70. He fought with the Bedford County PA. militia. Moved from PA. to Maryland where he met and married Margaret Heefner. Sometime around 1798 they moved to Botetourt County, VA. Received land grant from U.S. Government rendered in the American Revolution. Walker homestead on Craigs Creek, Valley of Sinking Creek, in the County of Botetourt, New Castle, VA. Botetourt County is now Craig County. He was known as Colonel George Walker.^[7]
