Walker; total value, £50. Identifiable. Also stolen same time, the property of Bessie Gibson, there,—A cameo brooch, girl’s head, set in black jet; an amethyst brooch, set with pearls; a gold cameo ring, woman’s head design; also a 10s. bank-note; total value, £2. Identifiable. |

Death Of Rugby Union Pioneer A noted footballer, amateur boxer, swimmer, cyclist and sailing expert in his day. George Washington ("Jumbo") Walker, died last night, aged 87. He was one of the real pioneers of Rugby Union football in this country, though he played Australian Rules with equal facility, and represented NSW in both codes. He went to New Zealand with the first two NSW teams in 1882 and 1886. The funeral will leave from Kinsella's chapel, Rockdale, at 10.30 am tomorrow, for the Woronora Crematorium. |
