Biography

John Walker was born in 1736 in Scotland/Ireland. John Walker and Nancy Ashford emigrated from Scotland or Ireland in the mid 1700's and settled in Orange County, North Carolina.

[1]

He married Nancy Ashford[1] and settled near Jordan's Creek on the border between Caswell and Orange counties. He matches into Walker YDNA Group 6 along with his brother Phillip[2]. The William Walker of Grimbsy, Ontario also matches into this group, making him a possible brother of John. All three are related to Alexander Walker of Malin, suggesting they originally came to North Carolina from Pennsylvania.

This man is often confused with another John Walker who was the son of William Walker d. 1769.
