Arthur James Crawford was born on the 15th March 1887[1][2][3][4] in Fareham, Hampshire, England[5][6] and baptised on the 26th June 1887 at Sts. Peter & Paul, Fareham, Hampshire, England, the son of James Crawford Wallace[3] (Brick Maker) and Emily Annie Wallace of Grove Road[2].
Arthur James Crawford married Bertha Ellen Downer in 1913 in Hampshire, England. [7]
Arthur James Crawford's wife Bertha died in 1925 in Hampshire, England, aged 38 years[8]. Arthur James Crawford left his children with Bertha's family.
On the 4th October 1930 Arthur James Crawford married Gladys Louisa Linington at St. Martin Prsebytarian Church, Bournemouth in the Counties of Southampton & Bournemouth. Arthur James Crawford Wallace, 43, widower, chauffeur (domestic) of 37 West Road, Bournemouth son of James Crawford Wallace (Electrical Engineer) and Gladys Louisa Linington, 39, spinster, Domestic Help of 37 West Road, Bournemouth, daughter of Charles Linington (Farm Carter). After his re-marriage to Gladys Louisa, Arthur James Crawford had no known contact with the children from his first marriage, and his children from his two wives were unaware of each other's existence.
