Biography

Sarah was born about 1864 in Scotland. Her parents were Jane Hodge and Matthew Wallace. She was just a young child when her parents emigrated to New Zealand.

Sarah (Wallace) Orr migrated from Scotland to New Zealand.

The family settled in the Hunua area of Auckland.

Sarah married David Thomas Orr in 1889. Her husband was a chemist. The couple were living in Haydn Street in Auckland when her mother died in 1892.

David and Sarah moved to Wellington. In 1911 they were living at 29 Buller Street.

She passed away in 1918 at the age of 54. Her death occurred at her residence in 29 Buller Street. She was a widow when she died as her husband had died in 1916. The couple did not have any (surviving) children. Sarah made a bequest to her nurse, and to her sister and niece. The balance of her estate went to her sister Agnes Bremner.
