Biography
Where and when he was born, and who his parents were is unknown, that is there are no known records. The first certain event in Thomas's life is his marriage to Elspet Steven (variously spelled as Stephen, and Stiven) on 6 Aug 1797 in the town of Ellon, Aberdeenshire.[1] The record states that Thomas was from the town of Old Deer and Elspet resided in Ellon. In his various children's death regisiters, it is stated that Thomas was a gardener and a gentleman's servant and he and Elspet resided in Old Deer throughout their lives.
Thomas and Elspet had the following children:
- James Wallace, 1800–1865. Married Janet Mess.
- George Wallace, 1806–1883. Married: 1. Christian Smith; 2. Margaret Hutcheon.
- Catherine Wallace, Abt. 1808–1895. Married James Park.
- William Wallace, 1812–1876. Married Christian Walker.
- John Wallace, 1815–1898. Married Robina Jamieson.
