William Richard Wallace was born June 1842 in Dames Quarter, Somerset County, Maryland, USA. He was the son of Richard David Wallace and Margaret Matilda Carew.

On 5 May 1866, his nephew Corry James Wallace was born in Somerset County. Research note regarding Corry J Wallace: 1870 Census he is listed along with Richard, Matilda, and their daughters Eliza and Julia. 1880 Census for William R Wallace shows Corrie aged 13 is a nephew and Matilda age 65 is a mother. Unsure which of William's siblings is Corry's parent.

He married Anna Columbia Kelly.

On 1 May 1868, his son Irving Richard Wallace was born in Dames Quarter.

1870s

On 9 Jul 1870, William Wallace (26) lived in Princep Anne, Dames Quarter with his wife Anne (22), son Irving (2), and Ms Virginia Mosely (15). The Wallace family was white; Virginia was black. William worked as a waterman; Anne was keeping house; Virginia was a domestic servant. William's real estate was valued at $500 and personal estate at $1000.

They were neighbors with Thomas Carew (24) and his family.
