Anita Lawrette Wallace was born on 20 April 1924 at her parents' rented home in Montpelier, Superior Township, Williams County, Ohio, USA. Anita was the child of Lawrie Wallace and Esther (Snow) Wallace. They had married on 22 November 1916 in Williams County, Ohio. Anita was the 3rd of the couple's five children. By her mother, she was a descendant of Isaac Cutter Snow, the original Snow family immigrant to Williams County, Ohio, in 1844.[1] [2] [3]
On the 1 April 1930 US Census, Anita was recorded as 5 4/12 years old, living with her parents, 35 & 34 years old respectively, in their rented home in Montpelier Township, Williams County, Ohio, USA. Also recorded as living in the Wallace household were Anita's paternal grandfather, Melvin W. Wallace, a 62-year-old "Cobbler," and 3 siblings: Katherine, age 11; Earl, 8; and Sylvester: 3 6/12 years old. Her father, Lawrie L. Wallace, was working as a "Machinist's Helper- Railroad Roundhouse". [4]
Ten years later, Anita L. Wallace was recorded on the 1 April 1940 US Census as 16 years old, still living with her parents on South Monroe Street in a house they owned in Montpelier village, Superior Township, Williams County, Ohio, USA. Her grandfather had passed away. The Wallace household now included Anita and 3 siblings: Earl Wallace: age 18; Sylvester Wallace, age 13; and Martha Wallace, 7 years old, all born in Ohio. Older sister Katherine was married and no longer living at home. Her father, Lawrie L. Wallace, was still a "Machinist's Helper - Railroad Roundhouse," while her older brother, Earl Wallace, was a "General Machinist: Oil Well Equipment Company". [5]
On 22 March 1944, Anita L. Wallace married Norman Lavohn Snow in Williams County, Ohio. They were distant cousins as Norman was a great-grandson of Isaac Cutter Snow, the original immigrant to Williams County, Ohio as was Anita Wallace. The Snow family had farmed this land since 1844. No marriage certificate has been found; this information comes from family sources on FamilySearch.[6] [7]
Norman and Anita (Wallace) Snow spent their lives farming the land in Williams County, Ohio, that their great-grandfather had settled in 1844 and that was passed down over several generations. They had at least one daughter, Barbara L. Snow, b: 25 Jun 1953 in Montpelier, Superior Township, Williams County, Ohio. She married and passed away on 4 Feb 2012 (aged 58) in Fort Wayne, Allen County, Indiana, USA.[8] Anita (Wallace) Snow passed away on 4 July 2004 at 80 years old. She was buried at Floral Grove Cemetery, Pioneer, Williams County, Ohio, USA. [9] She was followed to rest by her husband of 60 years, Norman Lavohn Snow, on 31 December 2007. He was 84 years old. He was buried next to his late wife at Floral Grove Cemetery. [10]
