Elias was born about 1750 in the Province of North Carolina. He was the son of Joseph Wallace and Hannah Emerson.
Elias is said to have removed to White County, Tennessee sometime around 1795. He is enumerated in the 1820 U.S. census for White County with Total White Persons = 3 and Total Slaves = 4.

Marriage and Family
Elias was married to Mary, LNAB currently unknown. His will, written in August 1821, mentions his "beloved wife Mary" and the following children:

two youngest sons, Laban Wallace and John Wallace, who were both appointed as executors.
