By the time he is enumerated in the 1900 United States Census he has been married to Samantha Elvira "Vira" Moore for 7 years and they have 3 sons.

His draft resignation card signed in 1918 describes him as medium height and build with blue eyes and black hair.

His wife, Vira, passes away on April 9, 1928.
He marries Nevada Robinson on August 11. 1928.

Robert .W. Wallen is listed in the 1940 Census as working for the post office. The household includes Robert W. Wallen (age 64) Nevada Wallen (Age 43), William Franklin Wallen (Age 8) and Ellen Joyce Wallen (Age 7). The listing shows Rural, Campbell County, TN., However they were living in Caryville, TN at this time in Campbell County.
He passed away in 1949 and is buried in Jellico Cemetery, Jellico, Campbell, Tennessee.
