Jane (Waller) Byrde was born in India

Jane Amelia Waller was born on 21 January 1840 and was baptised on 27 September 1840 at Bombay, India^[1]. She was the daughter of Robert Waller and Mary Anne Blowers.

She married Captain Henry Byrde on 15 January 1859 at Aden, Bombay Presidency, India^[2].

They went on to have at least five children:

1. Amy Rebecca Byrde (b. 14 May 1860, m. 22 October 1891 David Scrimgeour, d. 9 May 1927)
2. Frances Louisa Byrde (b. 1861, m. Sydney William Kirby, d. 1896)
3. Katherine Constance Byrde (b. 1863, d. 21 Sept 1938)
4. Henry Charles Waller Byrde (b. 10 May 1864, d. 4 Jun 1935)
5. Robert Lewis Waller Byrde (b. 10 Jan 1869, d. 22 Nov 1934)

In the 1881 Wales Census, Amelia Byrde (aged 41) was recorded in the household of her father in law Henry C Byrde (65) and her mother in law Rebecca Byrde (70) at Goytrey House, Goytrey, Monmouthshire^[3].

Jane Amelia Byrde died on 30 September 1892 and was buried at Mahayaya Cemetery, Kandy, Kandy District, Central, Sri Lanka^[4].
