Biography

Presumed Parents Edward Waller and Constance Waller Estimated Birth 1773-1790

Estimated Marriage 1793 Margaret Vereker [1]

Estimated Death 1843 Location Estimate Finnoe, North Tipperary, Tipperary, Ireland Geni Tree Thomas was born about 1773. He was the son of Edward Waller and Constance Gabett.

He lived at Finnoe House, Borrisokane, County Tipperary, Ireland.[1]

He married Margaret Vereker in June 1802 in Ireland.

Thomas held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) and was an extensive land proprietor.

One evening in November 1843 Thomas was sitting around the fire after having had dinner. Six or seven men entered the rear of his mansion after having removed their shoes. Armed with pistols, they dashed Into the dining room, seized the knives that were on the table and began a murderous attack on Thomas, a Captain Braddle (who was visiting the family), his wife Margaret and her sister, Miss Harriet Vereker. They were beaten in a frightful manner, and being without arms, which were in their bed chambers, could not make much resistance. However, they defended themselves as well as they could most bravely; but they all suffered severely.

Miss Vereker was not expected to survive, and Mrs. Waller was not much better. Thomas's arm was broken in two places, and his head severely wounded with approximately 13 cuts. Captain Braddle also suffered considerably. The assailants made off after hearing someone approaching the house.

An old butler also had his arm broken, and, in fact, they were all left for dead. They fought desperately. Though the alarm was given, and the police were as soon as possible at the scene of outrage, still they did not succeed In apprehending any of the perpetrators.

It would appear that Thomas died as a result of his injuries, as did Miss Harriet Vereker.

Waller-730 and Waller-2629 appear to represent the same person because: Confident these are one and the same. Thomas was murdered in 1843. Thank you, Linda Prole
