Biography

Carl Allen Wallingford was born in Tolesborough, Kentucky on November 19, 1890,[1,3] to Richard Perry Wallingford and Sarah Melissa Calvert Wallingford. His mother died when Carl was six years old. At age 17, Carl enlisted in the Army.[2]

On August 28, 1916, Carl married Mammie Greenaway in Chelan County, Washington.[4] When Carl registered for the draft in 1917, he was a farmer in the Duley Lake District of Bridgeport County, Washington.[3] His draft registration shows that he had served as a private for 5 months in Manila and was dishonorably discharged from the US Army.[3]

His wife died in childbirth on June 26, 1918.[5] On February 5, 1919, Carl married Marie Fendle,[6] who had been born in Russia. [8] Carl and Marie lived in Wenatchee, Washington in 1925,[7] and in Stevensville, Montana in 1930, where Carl worked as a laborer for a sugar company.[8] By 1935, they had moved back to Washington; Carl was working as a truck driver and they lived in Yakima.[9]

At age 95, Carl married again, to Yvonne Julia Paton, on Oct 10, 1986, in Pierce County, Washington. Carl died on Aug 17, 1988 in Yakima.[1]
