DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Richard by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA.
However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line.
It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Richard:
The list of 16 children in the biography is not correct. I have researched Richard's family for almost 40 years and have substantial documentation.
I don't think there were 4 daughters all born in 1796, (per the list: Elizabeth, Mary, Nancy, and Lucy were all born in 1796)
Lucy and Lucinda are the same. She married Nelson Plummer.
There was just one daughter Elizabeth. She married George Johnson and then James Gordon
I've never seen proof for a son named Benjamin.
William Hays Wallingford and Manford Wallingford were sons of James and Sarah (Reed) Wallingford, James was a son of Nicholas, brother of Richard. This is proven in James' estate settlement, which is recorded in Fleming County, KY Settlement Book 2 pp 522-523, (this is not available online).
James E Wallingford was a son of Nicholas and Phebe Williams Wallingford. Nicholas in turn was the son of James Wallingford who left a will in Jefferson Co, VA (now WV).
Malinda born 1820 and died 1893 was Richard's granddaughter. She was a daughter of John and Anna Mark Wallingford. She married first Andrew Bowman and secondly Charles Gill. See Lewis Co, KY Deed Bk N p 135 wherein she is listed as an heir at law of John Wallingford.
I also have a copy of a very lengthy lawsuit from Lewis Co, (Lewis County Circuit Court, Case #4417, Richard Wallingford & Squire E Wallingford vs Ann Wallingford and John B Wallingford, administrators of John Wallingford). All of John's children are named in the suit and there are references to the following children of Richard: John, Samuel B, and Squire.
The children of John:
John B. Wallingford
Miles Wallingford
Milly Ann (later referred to as Amelia Ann)
Clarinda Wallingford
Amanda Wallingford
Ann Wallingford
Samuel Wallingford
Squire Wallingford
Emily Wallingford
Malinda Bowman (and Andrew Bowman)
Sabra Keller, (and Wesley Keller)
Elizabeth Carpenter, (and William Carpenter)
Martha Harry, (and Joshua Harry)
Sally Cropper, (George Cropper)
