Mary Wallis daughter of Robert Wallis was baptised at St Andrew, Weaverthorpe in Yorkshire on the 12th of February 1715. [1]
She married John Robson at St Andrew on the 30th of November 1738. [2]
A curious story is told that at the baptism of her daughter, Elizabeth, in 1743, Mary placed the infant in the arms of a neighbour's son, Robert Anderson, aged twenty, and suggested that the child would one day make him a fine wife. [3] It is hard to imagine what Mary was thinking of, but on the 2nd of December 1760, when she was seventeen, young Elizabeth duly married Robert. [4] By all accounts they were remarkably happy and successful parents.
