Betty Wallis was born on 10 October 1800, the illegitimate daughter of Sarah Wallis. She was baptised in Wroughton on 26 October 1800[1] On 13 November 1800, a Bastardy Order was made against William Gibbs[2] who later was to marry Sarah and have five more children.
On 11 April 1822, Betty Wallis married John Cowley in Wroughton[3], and the couple had six children.
Betty died in 1852 in Wroughton and was buried on 16 October[4].
