Jean-Pierre Wallot was born in Salaberry-de-Valleyfield, Québec on May 22, 1935. He was the son of Albert Wallot and Adrienne Thibodeau.
Jean-Pierre was appointed as Dominion Archivist in 1985. In 1987, the title of the position was changed to National Archivist.
Jean-Pierre died in Ottawa, Ontario on August 30, 2010, and was buried in Valleyfield Catholic Cemetery, Salaberry-de-Valleyfield, Quebec[1].
