Mrs. Alice Wilson, widow of the late Mr. Henry Wilson, died at her residence, Riversvale, Wiseman's Ferry, in her 98th year. She was born in Fermanagh, Ireland, and came to Australia when about three years of age. Since her marriage, about 70 years ago, she resided at Riversvale, Wiseman's Ferry. Mrs Wilson retained vivid recollections of the early pioneers of the Hawkesbury district. An interesting memory was of her brother who accompanied the explorer, Leichhardt some of the way inland. She took an active part in the Church of England, and at her home, entertained the various bishops of the diocese, and also the clergy of other denominations. She is survived by four sons and four daughters, 20 grandchildren, and 23 great grandchildren.
The funeral on Sunday was attended by a large and representative gathering. The Rev. S. C. Blakemore, assisted by the Rev. H. T. McGowan, officiated at the service in the church and afterwards at the graveside.
