Biography

Emma Walmsley was born on 1 Jun 1832 at West Bromwich, Staffordshire, England. She was baptised on 15 May 1837 at Christ Church, West Bromwich. She was the daughter of William and Martha Walmsley.[1]

In the 1841 census, Emma was age 9 living at West Bromwich, Staffordshire with her mother Martha Walmsley (33), brother Thos Walmsley (17), sisters Ann Walmsley (14), Elizabeth Walmsley (12), Mary Walmsley (6), Liddia Walmsley (4), Rebecca Walmsley (1).[2]

In the 1851 census, Emma was age 19 living at Birmingham Road, West Bromwich, Staffordshire with her father William Walmsley (47), mother Martha Walmsley (47), sisters Sarah Ann Walmsley (24), Mary Walmsley (16), Lydia Walmsley (14), Rebecca Walmsley (11), Martha Walmsley (5), Eliza Walmsley (3), brother William Walmsley (7), nephew Samuel Wamsley (0).[3]

Thomas Taylor married Emma Walmsley on 27 Mar 1853 at Holy Trinity, West Bromwich.[4] They had five children: Edward Taylor (b. 1855), William Taylor (b. 1858), Luke Taylor (b. 1860), Mary Taylor (b. 1865), Thomas Taylor (b. 1868).

In the 1861 census Emma was age 28 living at West Bromwich with her husband Thomas Taylor (29), sons Edward Taylor (5), William Taylor (3), Luke Taylor (0).[5]

In the 1871 census Emma was age 41 living at West Bromwich with her husband Thomas Taylor (44), sons Edward Taylor (15), William Taylor (13), Luke Taylor (10), Thomas Taylor (2), daughter Mary Taylor (5). Also a lodger Samuel Walmsley (21) who was Emma's cousin.[6]

In the 1881 census Emma was age 49 living at Beale St, West Bromwich with her husband Thomas Taylor (53), sons Luke Taylor (20), Thomas Taylor (12), daughter Mary Taylor (15).[7]

Emma died in 1885 age 54 at the Union Workhouse, West Bromwich.[8]
