Born 1857 in Kingstown to William Walsh, coal porter, and Catherine Marlow. Married in 1880 in Dublin city to Mary Byrne. Worked as a coal labourer/porter. Lived in 2 Dowling's Court in the south docks until death by tuberculosis in 1914.

Possibly had brother Joseph (who was godparent to daughter Mary).
