Biography

Francis Walsingham was born about 1532, the only son of William Walsingham of Scadbury, Kent and his wife Joyce Denny.

Francis Walsingham was principal secretary to Queen Elizabeth I of England from 20 Dec 1573 until his death and is popularly remembered as her "spymaster". [1] He was knighted in November 1577 at the house of Sir Nicholas Bacon at Gorhambury. [2]
