Biography

Born 15 JAN 1729. Germany[1] ABT 1732. Union Co, PA. [2] Found multiple copies of birth date. Using 15 JAN 1729

"'Christening"' 16 JAN 1729 EVANGELISCH, GOMMERSHEIM, PFALZ, BAVARIA (Germany) [3] He was born in either 1728 or 1729.

His name occasionally appears as "J. Jacob Walter". His "Taufname" was "Johann", only used in a religious context. The 2nd name in such circumstances became the name by which a German person of that era would have been called in daily life.

Died 23 JAN 1803. Snyder Co, PA. [4][5]

Note: Possible fathers are Jacob Walter Sr. & Jr.(2 men to be sworn)(6 in family) who arrived in Philadelphia aboard the ship, James Goodwill on 9271727, per Strassburger & Hinke. One Jacob Walter came from Europe about the middle of the last century and settled in Snyder County. From him descended hundreds most of whom are now living near the spot where Jacob originally settled about two miles from Middleburg, Pa. The 1790 census shows a Jacob Walter in Northumberland Co, with 5 males over 16, 5 males under, and 1 female.
