Biography

John Walter was in 1597 and married his distant cousin Elizabeth Waters (Walters) on 4 March 1618 at Horfield, Gloucester, England.

PROBATE: Will dated 14 Oct 1640; will proved 8 Dec 1641 [PCC: 153 Evelyn]. PROBATE: Will> "to be buried in St. Arvan's church near my wife near the wall - whereas by statute I am bound to settle 3000l on my wife - my dau. Grizell 500l - to my son Thomas 100l in lieu of legacy under his grandfather's will and 20l per ann during my aunt Jone's life, to him 40l per ann. - to my dau Marie 500l. - to my sons Edward and Robert 300l. each - to child unborn 300l. - if my wife dies, Sir Robert Pointz, knight of the Bath, to be guardian - to my brother-in-law Mr. Isaak Bromwich and my brother Henry Walter 5l. to be disposed of by Mr. Wroth for poor Christians in want - to John Morrice my suits and my sword done with gold wire - to my eldest son John Walter 50l. - to my ex'ors lands, allowing my eldest son 100l. per ann. - my brother-in-law Edmund Waters and my son John ex'ors - my cousin Wm.
