William S. was active in community activities. He operated the Pilot Hill general store and post office. He became a licensed pharmacist by virtue of previous experience. As a Justice of Peace he was very influential over law enforcement for that area. William and Rebecca performed a community service by operating a telephone switchboard out of their home. Sometime during the early nineteen hundreds some of the family changed the name Walter to Walters. Submitted by Clyde L. Walters, 908 Althea Street, Johnson City, Tennessee 37601 Resources: Mary K.
