Ida's birth was registered in the East Preston district of Sussex in 1889[1] , her actual place of birth being at Worthing as shown in the census return of 1901[2] . She married Gerald Francis James Withers-Lancashire in the same district in 1908[3] and in 1911 she was recorded at Worthing with her young son Leonard, living with her married brother Frederick[4] . Ida evidently moved to Hendon, Middlesex, for a while, since that is where her daughter Beryl was born in 1916 and where her husband died in 1918. She returned to Worthing, living there and helping with the family firm of Walter Brothers for much of the rest of her life. Her death in 1987 was registered in Horsham district[5] .
