Biography

Richard Walter (1644-1697), Sheriff of Rosewater.

There are a number of Richards with surname Walter, born about this time, including on in Wales, a line that includes a Lucy Walter who became the mistress of Charles II. Parents William Walter (1605-1650) & Elizabeth Protheroe (1606-1652). The frequency is likely due to the amount of readily found information on that line. Plus, there's some good stories there. This Richard Walter was born in Devon, and father is Lawrence; he became the Sheriff of Pembrokeshire.

More likely, LAWRENCE Walter (1606- ) & Susanne Guiste; married 9 Feb 1638, Hartland, Devon. Siblings: John (1641- ); Agnes (f, 1648- )

1667 (1668?), age 23, Richard married PRESILLA CRUMBE( -1673); Family Search notes it is 14 km from place he was born. They settled in Bradworthy (also 14 km from Hartland. Family Search gives "Priscilla Crumbe (1650-1673)
