Of the nine siblings shown, John and Paul were full brothers and Mary L. was a full sister. The other six were half-siblings, children of Felix M. Walter and his second wife Mary J. McClain.
There were, in addition, two stepsisters who would have shared the same household. Leila M. (Masters) Barton and Beulah I. (Masters) Cunningham were daughters of Mary J. McClain and her first husband James M. Masters.

"Born June 12, 1896, in Frederick, Miss Walter was a daughter of the late Felix and Mary L. Warthen Walter.
"Miss Walter was a graduate of the Misericordia School of Nursing, Philadelphia, Pa., and, as a young woman did private duty nursing in the Philadelphia area. She was a member of St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, Emmitsburg, and the Sodality of the church.
"Surviving are a half brother, Lawrence Walter, Blue Ridge Summitt, and among a number of nieces and nephews, two nephews whom she raised, William T. Walter, Virginia Beach, Va., and John H. Walter, Emmitsburg.
"The funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 2, at St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, Emmitsburg. The Rev. John S. Pearce will be the celebrant. Interment will be in the St. Joseph's Cemetery, Emmitsburg.
"Friends may call from 7-9 p.m. Friday, Nov. 1, at the Grove Funeral Home, Waynesboro, Pa. The Rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home."
