Raymond was the fifth of six children of Jacob and Mary McCormick Walter.[1] He was likely born on the family farm in Wellesley Township in Waterloo County.[2] In 1911, the family was living on a farm in Peel Township, Wellington County.[3] In 1921, the family was back is Wellesley Township, Wellington, and Raymond was farming with his father and older brother.[4]
He married Martha Moser in Hesson, Ontario when he was 24.[5]
He died at age 76 in Listowel, Ontario, and is buried in Woodland Cemetery, Kitchener.[6][7]
