Gertrude was born in 1842 at Corhampton, Hampshire, England the daughter of Charles Walters, a clerk in holy orders and Ellen Mary Anne DuSautoy. She was baptised on 8 December 1842 in Corhampton, Hampshire, England.[1]
In the 1861 census Gertrude (age 18), Scholar, was the unmarried pupil of Sarah Hannaford at 67, High Street, Fareham, Hampshire, England.[2]
