Selina Mary Walters, eldest daughter of Walter and Elizabeth Walters, married Stephen Greenslade, son of John and Elizabeth Greenslade, on 14 April 1890 in Korumburra, Victoria. According to reports (Selina's obituary and advice from historian K M Bowden) this was the first marriage to take place in Korumburra. Stephen Greenslade was born on 4 November 1861 in Huntley, Victoria, and had bought a block of land in Korumburra, situated on Walters Street opposite Walter and Elizabeth Walters. At the time of the marriage Stephen was listed as a miner. Both Selina and Stephen were involved with the Salvation Army at Korumburra, Stephen playing a cornet in the band and Selina teaching in the Sunday School.
Their son, George William Greenslade, was born on 29 April 1891 in Brunswick, Victoria
Two years later an epidemic of measles swept through the town. Selina caught a chill which developed into pneumonia. She died on Thursday, 23 November 1893 in Korumburra, Victoria. There is some speculation that she may have died in childbirth but this is unconfirmed and appears unlikely. As there was no cemetery in Korumburra at that time Selina was buried in Leongatha Cemetery.
In 1894 Stephen sold part of his property (the South-West corner) to the Baptist fraternity, upon which the Baptist Church was later built.
