William Walton was born on October 25, 1749, in Georgia. He was the son of George and Elizabeth Walton.[1]
He moved first from Georgia to Prince Edward County, Virginia, and then to Botetourt County, Virginia, around 1777.[1]
At the age of 28, William married Mary Otey Leftwich on February 2, 1778, in Botetourt County, Virginia, when she was 19. They had nine children.[1]
He served as 2nd Lieutenant in the Company of Captain John Lewis, Botetourt County, Virginia and Botetourt County's Commissioner of the Peace.
William died on January 29, 1845, in Roanoke County, Virginia, at the age of 95. He was buried at Walton Cemetery in Wabun, Roanoke, Virginia.[2]
