[NOTE: Conflict on children's births: Son Joshua and daughter Mary are said to have been born in Norfolk, England vs. Salem, Massachusetts VR has Joshua's baptism at Salem ( but not Mary) indicating the source is a Bible record. W. G. Davis indicates these 2 children were baptized in England. Family search notes children John and Mary, children of Robert and Thomasin born in Norfolk. from England Births and Christenings, 1538-1975 ]
Thomasine Ward, born c1606, was the daughter of George and Dionus (Burrow) Ward of Great Yarmouth, Norfolk, England. [1][2][3]
She married first at St. Nicholas church in Great Yarmouth, John Thompson on November 29, 1632. They had one daughter, Margaret. [1][3]
Her husband John was buried at Great Yarmouth on February 26, 1633/4. [3]
She married second, on August 11, 1634, widower Robert Buffum, at South Walsham, Norfolk, [4] as his second wife. [3] Robert was presumably the son of James and Margery (Raylton) Bougham. [1][2][3]
Soon after the birth of their daughter Mary, they came to New England as on October 29, 1638, Robert Buffum appeared at the Salem town meeting asking for a land grant. [1][2][5]
Tamosin corresponded with relatives in Devonshire, England and they sent her yearly presents until she became a Quaker, after which communications with the family ceased. [6][7]
In 1666, her brother Jeffrey Ward of Great Yarmouth, bequeathed L100 to 'my sister Thomasine Buffum, now or late the wife of Robert Buffum of New England.' [1][2]
She and her children became strong Quakers, and suffered for their faith. [1] Children Margaret (Thompson) Smith, sons Joshua and Caleb, and daughter Deborah (Buffum) Wilson, were all active participants in the Friend's meetings, although it appears that Robert was not a strong follower. [6]
1658: Tamosin and her son Joshua, and wife Damaris begin to appear in court records, regarding their absence at public meetings, and their presence at Quaker meetings. [6] In some cases Tamosin was fined, and other occasions, not. [8][9]
Robert was a farmer and to some extent a trader and he and his wife early joined the Society of Friends. [5] He dealt in garden seeds, which his wife continued after his death. [7]
Margaret Thompson [1], baptized at Great Yarmouth on June 30, 1633; brought to Salem, by her mother and stepfather and there married, about 1657, John Smith. [11][5] She died January 1, 1678, John Smith who died in 1680. They had Mary, George Exercise and Tamosin. [7]

This profile should not have replaced Caleb Buffum's mother, although a merge request should have been made. If you read his original mother's profile, she is correctly sourced and her parents George and Dionus (Burrow) Ward are noted. (not Tobias). The parent on this profile would need removal prior to merging.
Thank you.
