Biography

Gamaliel Ward was born in 1694 in Marlboro, Massachusetts, to William and Judith Ward.[1]

Gamaliel married Damaris Holcomb sometime prior to 1725, and the couple resided in Union, Connecticut.[1][2]

The couple had several known children, mostly born in Union, including [1][2]

  1. Jonathan Ward (b. 1 Mar 1725),
  2. William Ward (b. 2 Jan 1730),
  3. Simeon Ward (12 Apr 1732),
  4. Mary Ward (b. 4 Nov 1734),
  5. Rebecca Ward (b. 25 Mar 1737),
  6. Ruth (Ward) Phelps (b. 17 May 1[7]47).

The couple relocated to Somers, Connecticut some time before 1647, and Ruth was born Salmon Brook/Granby Connecticut.[1][2]

GAMALIEL WARD and SIMEON WARD. Both settled in 1745, on the farm, now the west part of the premises of Eliphalet Case. Their house stood on the west side of Cherries brook, the west side of the road, a few rods north of the bridge. It is not in the power of the writer to tell, whether they two were brothers or father and son.
