Family history states that one of Sarah and Isaac's daughters was sexually assaulted and Sarah killed her daughter's attacker. Isaac took the blame and was convicted and sent to the Alabama State Penitentiary (later called Wetumpka State Penitentiary). He died on November 3, 1847 of apoplexy at the prison.
