Biography

Mary was born in Marlborough, Middlesex, Massachusetts Bay Colony in abt. 1676. She is the fourth born child and third daughter of Samuel Ward and Sarah Howe.[1] She married Caleb Rice, son of Joseph Rice and Martha King, in Marlborough on 21 May 1696.[2] They had ten (known) children together, all born in Marlborough: 1) Martha b. on 3 Jun 1697; 2) Mary b. on 30 Apr 1699; 3) Josiah b. on 30 Dec 1700; 4) Jabez b. on 2 Feb 1702; 5) Nathan b. on 11 Dec 1704; 6) Rebecca b. on 10 Dec 1706 7) Sarah b. on 13 Mar 1709; 8) Caleb b. on 13 Dec 1712; 9) Hepzibah b. on 14 Jul 1715; and 10) Keziah b. on 10 Feb 1717.[3] Mary died in Marlborough on 18 Aug 1742.[4] She is buried there in Old Common Cemetery.[5]

Ward has confused Mary with her cousin Mary, born about the same time, whose birth is found there.4,3 She was the daughter of Samuel Ward and Sarah How. I did an initial post-merge clean up but more consolidation is needed. It looks like the second section is a cut and paste from the Edmund Rice Assn. Although the copyright is included, I think Wikitree policy is to rewrite and incorporate the facts (and then credit the source).
