Biography

John Ward married Annie Hawthorne on 3 Dec 1869 at Donoughmore in the Lordship of Newry? in the County of Down. Both were of full age (21 or more), and neither had been married before. John was a farmer living in Skinn?, Annie lived in Lisnacreevy. Their fathers were named as William Ward (farmer) and James Hawthorn (farmer). The witnesses were James Burns & Sarah Ward. ^[1]

His wife Anna died 29 Apr 1888 in Listvoder, in Downpatrick district, aged 46. She was the wife of Land-Stewart John Ward, and died of chronic bronchitis & kidney disease she'd suffered from for some years, which was medically certified; the death was registered by her husband of Listvoder, who'd been present at her death.^[3]

John - beware potential confusion with similarly-named Englishmen, also with James' son named John Edwin Hawthorne Ward.
