William Arthur Ward was born in Victoria, British Columbia on June 29, 1867, and christened in Victoria on August 4, 1867[1] He was the son of William Ward and Lydia Sothcott.
At the time of the 1881 Canada Census, Willm Curtis, Lydia, Alice Lydia, Willm Arthur (mistranscribed as "Coltron"), Mary Eleanor, Cecil Walford, Edith Lettie, Francis Bulkley, George Desborough, and Florence Anne Ward were listed as living in Victoria, British Columbia, along with a Chinese servant[2].
William married Isabel Davie in Victoria, British Columbia on April 5, 1893[3]
