Biography

At the time of the 1900 US Census, head of household Cleland U. Ward (age 38, born in New York) was working in the occupation of "Draughtsman" and living in a home he owned with a mortgage at 132 Walnut Street in Election District 2, Lockport City Ward 3, Niagara, New York, United States with his wife, Mary F. Ward (age 38, born in Michigan) and five children: Duane M. Ward (age 14, born in New York), Muriel Ward (age 12, born in New York), Donald S. Ward (age 6, born in New York), N. Forsyth Ward (age 3, born in New York), and Cleland H. Ward (age 1, born in New York). Cleland and Mary stated they'd been married for 16 years by 1900, and that they'd had five children, with five of them still alive. Both of Cleland's parents were born in New York; Mary Ward's father was born in Ireland, and her mother was born in West Virginia. [1]

Donald S. Ward registered for the World War I draft in Niagara County No. 1, New York, United States. He listed his date of birth as 27 Jul 1894 in Lockport, New York, United States. Donald was living at 172 High Street, Lockport, New York, and he claimed exemption from the draft due to being a marine engineering student at the time. Donald said he was medium height, medium build, with black eyes and black hair. [2]

On Christmas day 1929, Donald Silverthorne Ward (age 35) married Helen Bloomer (age 29) in Putnam, New York, United States. Donald was working as a Teacher, and Helen was working as a Librarian. Donald listed his father's name as Cleland Ward, and his mother was Mary McQueen. Helen's father was Mortimer Bloomer, and her mother was Alida Field. [3]
