Nathan was born about 1730. He passed away on 14 March 1803 in Grayson County, Virginia, and was buried in the Nathan Ward of Coal Creek Family Cemetery. [1]
Note: I cannot find a cemetery in either Grayson or Carroll County, Virginia with the above name. I suspect the cemetery is simply a family cemetery which someone has decided to give a longer name to. Coal Creek is a rather long road which meanders thru parts of both Grayson and Carroll counties. I have also searched for Nathan in the Old Quaker Cemetery. He is not listed, but not all graves were marked. Some of the marked graves had only a rock or stone with no name.
Nathan is listed among wills proved in Grayson County, Virginia between 1743 and 1849. Nathan's was proved in March of 1803. His children Nathan, Wells,
William and Enoch are listed, but not Margaret. [2]
Nathan married Sarah, and they had the following children:
Nathan Ward
William Ward
Margaret Ward Davis
Wells Ward
Enoch Ward
Note: knowing Sarah's family name would help in singling out our Nathan from the many others. The same goes for knowing his birth location.

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Nathan by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA.
However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line.
It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Nathan:
