Roland Grant Ward was born in about 1892, the son of Edward Freer Ward and Mabel Eva Andrea Ward (nee Watts). He was a native of the Manning River district of the Colony of New South Wales, in what was soon to become Australia.
Sergeant Roland Grant Ward was killed in action in August 1915 at Gallipoli, Gelibolu, Çanakkale, Turkey. He is buried or at least commemorated at the LONE PINE MEMORIAL at Gallipoli. He had been a Sergeant in the A.I.F's 13th Australian Infantry Battalion and had enlisted on the 18th of January 1915.
Roland Grant Ward had been a promising cricketer with the Balmain Cricket Club in Sydney, New South Wales.
