William J. Warden of Navarre, Fla., and formerly of Eau Claire died Feb. 25, 2008. He was 87 years old.

He was born in Eau Claire to Guy and Vedia (Henderson) Warden in 1920. He attended local schools and graduated from Eau Claire High School in 1939. At age 19, he enlisted in the Army Air Corps and was stationed at Wheeler Field in Hawaii when the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor. He was released from the service after WW II. In 1947, he married Beverly Dodge of Elk Mound and re-enlisted in the Air Force. He retired in 1971 after 30 years of service. During his service, he was awarded the Outstanding Meritorious Service medal.
He is survived by his son, William (Cecilia) of Navarre, Fla.; daughter, Linae Warden of Fort Collins, Colo.; two grandchildren; sisters, Helen White of Oshkosh and Barbara Zeug of Eau Claire; brothers, John Warden of Seattle, Wash., and Guy Warden of Bella Vista, Ark.; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Beverly; parents; sisters, Marian Running, Gene Gillespie and Margaret Warden; brothers, Benjamin, Harry and James. Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 13, 2008, at Santa Fe National Cemetery in Santa Fe, N.M.
Memorials may be given to any veterans organization or to the Alzheimer's Association.
