Nancy J. Warden, was born September 12, 1822, probably in Montgomery County, Virginia. She married William Decatur Carper on December 8, 1853, in Sweenysburg, Raleigh County, (WV). William D. Carper (1832-1924) is the son of Joseph Carper and Virginia Shumate of Grandview, Raleigh County, (WV). They were divorced before 1871. Nancy J. Warden lived with her parents after her divorce. She died of fever on March 26, 1886, and is probably buried in the Thomas Warden Cemetery.
