Biography

Christening: 1 DEC 1861

Burial: Date: 24 APR 1900 Linwood Cemetery

Note: 1862/34 Ware Helen Margaret Helen Thomas

Parents farmer Thomas Ware, born 1822 Woodbury, Devon; died 1891 & Mary Ann Bond born 1826 Stonehouse, Devon; died 19 Nov 1895.

Star , Issue 7224, 24 July 1891, Page 3 OBITUARY. Mr Thomas Ware At 7 a.m. on Wednesday morning last there passed away to "that bourne, whence no traveller returns," a very old and much respected settler of Okain's Bay, in the person of the late Mr Thomas Ware, senr., aged neary seventy years. It is something like forty years since he came to the Colony, from Devon, England, and he has resided in Okain's Bay nearly the whole of that time. He, consequently, was one of the early pioneers of the bay, and had his share in "making the rough places smooth, and transforming the wilderness into a flower garden." Three or four years ago he had a very serious illness, from which he really never fully recovered, although he did not take to his bed until Friday last. He was until recently a member of the Road Board, and had interested himself in many other matters, having the good of the district at heart. He leaves a widow and grown-up family of two sons and six daughters to mourn his loss, and for whom genuine sympathy is felt. The funeral takes place on Sunday next.]
