Linda,

Thank you for connecting John Porter Howard, my ancestor. Family members have looked for his father for years to no avail, except for the undocumented story that Portman Howard was his father. I’m grateful you have made that connection. Could you tell me what documentation there is that John Porter Howard is the son of Portman Howard? Thank you.

Hi Bill.

I have some DNA matches from individuals in the Portman Howard line. I'd be happy to share this information to you to provide my rationale for adding Portman Howard as the father. John Porter Howard and Susanna Matilda Southard are also my great great grandparents. I have a lot of family from Sparta, TN (Rhea, Howard, England, Ware) and I'm betting you do too :)

Please feel free to email me at Lerweb at gmail.com.

Thanks, Linda Ware Riesenman

Hi Carrie and Linda I am Lance. I notice none of us has made the connection to each other even though we are all related. I am wondering if you both can give any idea as to how you think we might be related. On my end, I believe it to be an ancestor of Sherman Miller, probably on his father's side. Could be a Howard or a Swafford or even a Miller. Can you look at our shared matches on FTDNA and see if you can narrow it down any further on your trees? Also matching us on the 4th Chrome (which is the portion I am most interested in is Dean Cox the grandson of James Roberson and Ida Swafford.

Hi Linda,

Thank you for self-certifying for the Pre-1700 badge! Participation in a Pre-1700 Project is strongly encouraged for those wishing to edit Pre-1700 profiles. Collaboration is essential because pre-1700 ancestors are shared by many descendants.

It looks like the US History Project would be a good fit with the tag you entered. Adding the tag United_States_History will help you get updates about activity for that project.

Do you have any questions? Let me know. I'm happy to help! :-)
